The theme for CA 2018

Work opportunities 4.0 in the cultural/arts sector as a result of a changing and innovating Europe. This is a continuation and concretization of previous CA seminars.

subtitle:working conditions, requirements of the new vocational skills, reform of education and training systems, employment trends and income distribution in society.

This seminar is organised by the European trade union for arts and culture: Association Christian Artists: www.christianartists.org www.christianartists-network.org www.christianartists-academy.org.

This seminar should give new insights and giving very practical help to the workers in the sector arts/culture. Besides the contributions of 8 speakers, life interviews will be done with a number of real time workers, professionals in the sector arts/culture.Besides speaking ABOUT the sector problems and opportunities, it is equally important to speak WITH the workers in the sector, and hear what they have to say or can contribute out of their personal work-life experiences.

SECTION 1: general set up (Sunday July 29, 16.00 – 17.30)

• General introduction to the theme by Leen La Rivière, chairman International trade union of christian artists (Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
• Picture of  Europe, where we came from, where we go to by Dr.Evert van de Poll, Evangelical Theological Faculty in Leuven (Belgium)
• The need for working groups (communities of practice) by Judith Stevenson, former college Senior Tutor at Durham University, (Uk/Scotland) + splitting up in these working groups organised by métier

SECTION 2: (Mondaymorning July 30,  9.00 – 10.00)

Better preparation for this future of work. What is available already. What you have to plan yourself. Suggestions for trade unions, suggestions for regulations and politics. By Dr. Geoffrey Stevenson, lector media literacy at theUniversity of Edinburgh, UK

• the possibilities and challenges of fusion of the various arts disciplins
• Life long learning, learn to learning and the need for ongoing changes (as markets are changing)
• Mastership
• Community of professionals c.q. other forms like inspire groups

• Social life (family, friends, your local or professional community, etc
• To be selfemployed: needed knowledge about personal/work presentation worldwide, profitmodels when everybody can copy (steal) so easily

SECTION 6 (Tuesdaymorning July 31,  9.00-10.30)

Changes of the social-cultural context. In this part a general overview by Dr Paul Donders, founder of International coaching institute X-Pand (Germany, NL, South Afrika, etc)

• What is Europe (going to be)
• Cultural changes , because of immigration, integration, regions, ethic changes, and change of life-span (we get all much older…what does that have as impact)
• Political  changes (including effects of the Brexit); EU plans
• Economic changes and the effect on the dynamics of the labour force and markets
